When was the last time you learned something completely new?
Not something you already knew how to do, but something that challenged you to think differently.
Lifelong learning is about remaining curious, exploring unfamiliar experiences and continuing to develop throughout our lives.
The benefits of lifelong learning extend beyond gaining knowledge.
Learning can support cognitive engagement, build confidence, encourage social connections and give us a renewed sense of purpose.
It can also provide opportunities for neuroplasticity as the brain responds to new experiences and repeated practice.
You do not need to enrol at university or pursue another qualification.
Learning to prepare a new meal, play a musical instrument, use unfamiliar technology or speak a few words of another language can be a meaningful starting point.
One of the messages I share through Regain the Brain is that learning should not stop when formal education ends.
It can become part of everyday life.
Imagine what might happen if you committed to learning one new thing every week for the next year.
That would be 52 opportunities to challenge yourself.
Become a lifelong learner. Your future self may thank you.
