Why My Brain Injury Story Is About More Than Survival

Regain the Brain: A Brighter Future

When people hear that I survived a serious brain injury as a young child, they often focus on the injury itself.

But I believe the most important part of my story is what happened afterwards.

Living with the consequences of that injury influenced my childhood, education, confidence and adult life.

There were challenges I did not fully understand when I was younger.

There were also periods when I questioned my own abilities.

For many years, I lacked the confidence to explore opportunities that might have helped me grow.

Yet my story did not end there.

In my fifties, I began learning the piano.

I started exploring neuroplasticity more deeply.

I became increasingly interested in sharing what I was learning with other people.

Eventually, that journey led me towards inspirational speaking and NeuroResilience coaching.

My brain injury inspirational story is not about claiming that determination can overcome every disability.

It is about recognising that a person’s identity and future can contain far more than their diagnosis or injury.

I hope my experiences encourage others to remain curious, seek support and recognise the value of their own achievements.

Because survival is one part of a story.

Living, learning and finding purpose are important chapters too.
