My journey with brain injury began long before I understood what the word neuroplasticity meant.
As a young child, I suffered a serious brain injury that would influence many aspects of my life.
Growing up, I faced physical challenges and struggled with confidence.
For years, I underestimated what I might be capable of achieving.
But life has a way of presenting opportunities to reconsider the stories we tell ourselves.
As I began exploring new skills and learning more about the brain, I became increasingly interested in neuroplasticity.
Learning to play the piano in my fifties became one of the experiences that helped change my perspective.
Today, as a brain injury motivational speaker, I share my story to encourage conversations about resilience, lifelong learning and the possibilities of personal development.
I do not believe my experiences represent a universal pathway to recovery.
Every brain injury is different.
What I hope people take from my journey is that our current circumstances do not always tell us everything about our future.
Sometimes a new chapter begins when we become willing to learn something unfamiliar.
Your brain is not finished. Your story is not over.
